The SASY Neighborhood Association is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to empowering residents and businesses in the Schenk-Atwood-Starkweather-Yahara neighborhood on Madison, WI's near-east side. Established in 1999 and incorporated in 2017, SASY NA actively engages its community in decision-making processes that shape local life, commerce, and the natural and urban environments.
The association serves as a vital link between residents, businesses, and local government, facilitating participation, conveying community perspectives to policymakers, and maintaining essential communication channels. SASY NA champions various neighborhood improvement projects, from business development and environmental initiatives like Friends of Starkweather Creek to park enhancements and residential development reviews. They also produce AtwoodFest, host Solstice celebrations, and offer grants to local groups, fostering a vibrant and connected community.
Through regular meetings and active committees focusing on preservation, development, traffic, and environmental issues, SASY NA ensures the collective voice of its diverse constituency is heard and acted upon, contributing significantly to the quality of life in the east side of Madison.
