Operation Ruck 22 is a dedicated volunteer organization based in Madison, WI, committed to raising awareness and preventing veteran and service member suicide. Recognizing the tragic statistic of 17 veterans and 1 service member taking their own lives daily, the organization mobilizes public and veteran support through its signature event: an 18km ruck march carrying 18 pounds. This powerful act symbolizes the burden carried by those in crisis and serves as a vital platform for advocacy.
Since its inception in 2016, Operation Ruck 22 has grown significantly, fostering a strong community around its mission. Over nine years, it has engaged more than 1000 marchers and successfully donated over $111,000 to local organizations that provide critical support to veterans at risk. The organization's efforts are entirely volunteer-driven, ensuring that resources are maximized to create public and veteran awareness and connect those in need with essential help, including the Veterans Crisis Line. Their annual march culminates in a decade of impact, leaving a lasting legacy of support for our nation's protectors.
