The Racine Arts Council, established in 1967, is dedicated to promoting the positive power of art throughout Racine, WI. This vital organization actively encourages, supports, and advocates for emerging and established artists, artistic groups, and young people interested in the arts. Distinctively, the Council differentiates itself from other arts organizations by not producing art directly, but rather by facilitating enriching art experiences and fostering collaboration among artists and community entities.
The Council achieves its mission through a range of impactful programs designed to strengthen the local arts scene. The ArtSeed grant program provides crucial funding for arts-related projects by local artists and non-profit organizations, nurturing creative endeavors. ArtStart ensures that art is accessible to individuals of all socio-economic backgrounds, offering opportunities for both adults and children to experience and appreciate diverse art forms. Furthermore, the Lonely Instruments Need Kids (LINK) initiative supplies donated instruments to children who are financially unable to purchase or rent their own, thereby nurturing young talent and passion for music.
