BASIC, a trio consisting of Chris Forsyth (guitar), Mikel Patrick Avery (percussion, drum machine, electronics), and Douglas McCombs (Fender Bass VI), has released their new EP "Dream City," which features three tracks recorded live in a two-day session at Kawari Sound in Philadelphia. This minimalist project showcases a blend of experimental funk, characterized by interlocking guitar lines and a mix of electronic and acoustic percussion. Following the addition of McCombs, the group has quickly developed new material, emphasizing improvisation and rhythmic exploration, which is evident in their latest release.
