The 2026 BANFF Mountain Film Festival World Tour is an extension of the original Banff Festival of Mountaineering Films, which began in 1976. Initially launched as a small outreach program, the Tour has expanded significantly and now showcases mountain films in over 600 locations across more than 40 countries, reaching an audience of approximately 550,000. This event highlights the intersection of adventure and storytelling within the outdoor community.
